The Miguel Cotto vs Ricardo Torres fight that took place on Saturday 24th September 2005 at Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City was a candidate for one of the most thrilling fights in the history of the Boardwalk. The fight was promoted by Duva Boxing and aired on HBO Boxing After Dark. The title at stake was the WBO World Super-lightweight Title, which was the fourth defense for Cotto.
Miguel Cotto had an unbeaten record of 24-0-0 going into the fight, while Ricardo Torres had an equally impressive record of 28-0-0. Both fighters weighed 140 lbs, and the fight was expected to be a closely contested battle.

In the seventh round, Cotto knocked Torres down again, this time with a right hand. Torres got back up, but he was clearly hurt. Cotto continued to land some big shots, and the referee eventually stopped the fight at 1:52 of the round.
