On Saturday, February 26, 2005, the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico played host to an electrifying bout between Puerto Rican boxing sensation Miguel Cotto and Las Vegas-based DeMarcus Corley. This fight, which aired on HBO Boxing After Dark, showcased the WBO World Super-lightweight Title, with Cotto making his 2nd defense of the title. Promoted by Top Rank and officiated by referee Norm Budden, the fight pitted two knockout punchers against one another and thus had boxing fans excited to see the expected fireworks.

Entering the ring with an unblemished record of 22-0-0, Miguel Cotto weighed in at 140 lbs and demonstrated his formidable power right from the first bell. His opponent, DeMarcus Corley, entered the fight with a record of 29-3-1 and weighed in at 137 lbs.

The fight started with a bang as Cotto managed to knock down Corley once in the first round. Despite the early setback, Corley displayed resilience and came back strong in the 3rd round, during which he had Cotto staggering and reeling.
