Age on fight night 28Why the House picks Umar Dzambekov
This is a dangerous comeback for Parker. He’s experienced enough to make a young puncher think, and he can spoil a man’s rhythm with his jab and changes of position. I thought he did more than enough to make the Buatsi decision contentious. But Parker has to keep those feet moving; if he pauses after punching, he gives Dzambekov the chance to set his own attack.
Dzambekov is dangerous because he waits for a mistake instead of simply swinging for one. The uppercut that finished Ahmed Elbiali came when Elbiali lunged in with his guard open. Parker is a better, more awkward boxer, so I don’t expect an easy finish. I do expect Dzambekov’s southpaw angle and timing to make Parker increasingly cautious about letting his hands go.
Parker can win rounds early if he keeps Dzambekov turning, but I reckon the younger man catches up with him once Parker starts holding his ground. My pick is Dzambekov by late stoppage.
