Fight Report

Zach Parker, 24-1 (17 KOs), comfortably outpointed Germany's former WBA champion Tyron Zeuge, 27-2-1 (15 KOs), over ten rounds at the Resort's World Arena in Birmingham. However, the Derby native didn't make the statement he would have liked as he seeks to secure a big-name opponent at super middleweight or light heavyweight.

Parker, who weighed 169lbs 3oz, started the fight by moving around the ring, easily evading Zeuge's lounging right hand and looking to establish his jab. However, the second round brought a real shock, as Parker was stung badly by a right hook to the chin and touched the canvas. Despite being shaken by the knockdown, Parker managed to recover, as Zeuge failed to commit to finding a finish.

In the third round, Parker attempted to box his way back into the fight, but his defence needed to be more stable and stable, and he seemed wary of tangling with Zeuge at close range. However, he found some rhythm in the fourth and fifth rounds, boxing almost exclusively as a southpaw, finding a home for his jab, and mixing his punches well to head and body.

By the start of the seventh round, Parker had assumed complete control by attempting to eliminate all the drama from the fight. Zeuge's only answer was to wing in overhand rights and lefts, but Parker, having been dropped earlier, was more aware of the danger. The fight became increasingly messy as the tired Zeuge swung away, and Parker jabbed and moved.

In the final round, Parker seemed to twist his ankle and had little choice but to stop moving. Despite having an injured fighter in front of him, Zeuge fought with little urgency, and the fight petered out. After ten rounds, Parker was awarded a unanimous decision with comprehensive scores of 96-94, 97-92, and 98-91.

Parker, who had previously been close to a big fight against John Ryder in 2022 before a broken hand forced him out, will now look to secure a high-profile opponent in the super middleweight or light heavyweight divisions. However, his performance against Zeuge may have made a different statement than he would have liked to attract the attention of the elite operators in those weight classes.
