Why the House picks Derek Chisora
I, for one, don’t think Derek Chisora has regressed anywhere near the amount that Deontay Wilder has, going by recent showings. The one thing that has been a question mark over Wilder for me is: if all of this bad form comes down to the third Tyson Fury fight, then how come a year later he came back against the very decent Robert Helenius and knocked him cold within a round? That looked like a good result, but then came the defeats to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, where he looked shot and could not get a right hand off. On the other hand, you have Chisora, who’s coming in with three decent wins: Gerald Washington, Joe Joyce, and Otto Wallen, not bad form for a 42-year-old who’s had a punishing career. And that is why I have to pick Chisora to win by stoppage because Wilder does not have a great defence. He does not perform well unless he is throwing that right hand with bad intentions, which, in all honesty, would have been enough for any heavyweight in history to deal with. If Wilder miraculously finds his old form again, this could be a completely different story, but I don’t believe that will happen at this late stage.
