David Benavidez wins WBC eliminator against Ronald Ellis

Former two-time WBC World Super-middleweight Champion David Benavidez put himself back in title contention with an 11th round stoppage of Ronald Ellis, the 31-year-old contender from Lynn, Massachusetts on a PBC show, shown on Showtime from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Ellis was value for money even though he never looked like getting the win against Benavidez.

Talk of a Canelo fight for the 24-year-old from Phoenix, Arizona looks premature on this showing, he will need better performances against bigger names to spark real interest in a fight between the two.
