In a highly anticipated rematch, Michael Nunn successfully defended his WBA World Super-middleweight Title against Victor Cordoba on Saturday, January 30, 1993. The bout took place at The Pyramid in Memphis, Tennessee, and was promoted by Don King Productions. Airing on Showtime Championship Boxing PPV, the rematch followed their previous encounter in September 1992 at the Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, which Nunn also won by split decision.

The second fight between these two skilled boxers showcased a high level of technique and determination. Nunn, with a record of 38-1-0, was known for his incredible speed and accuracy. On the other hand, Cordoba entered the ring with a record of 19-3-3, eager to avenge his previous loss to Nunn and secure the title for himself.

The contest saw both fighters trading blows throughout the twelve rounds, with Nunn displaying his speed and Cordoba attempting to land powerful shots. The fight ended in a unanimous decision, with judges Guy Jutras scoring the bout 115-107, Roberto Ramirez Sr 117-106, and Justo Vasquez 120-106, all in favor of Michael Nunn.

Referee Mills Lane officiated the match, ensuring that the fight was conducted fairly and according to the rules. During the fight, Cordoba threw several low blows, which he later attributed to Nunn's exceptional speed. In a post-fight interview, Cordoba apologized for his actions, stating, "Michael Nunn is very fast, so the low blows just happened. I want to apologize to everyone."

With this victory, Nunn solidified his position as the reigning WBA World Super-middleweight champion. It marked his first successful title defense since claiming the belt from Cordoba in their previous encounter. Before moving up to the super-middleweight division, Nunn had also held the IBF World Middleweight Title from 1988 to 1991.
