On Saturday, 20th February 1993, at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, Mexico, Michael Nunn defended his WBA World Super-middleweight Title against Dan Morgan. The fight, was promoted by Don King Productions and aired on Showtime PPV. Nunn defended his title for the second time. Nunn entered the bout with a record of 39-1-0, while Morgan boasted a record of 39-2-0.
The atmosphere was electric as the fight took place on the undercard of the Julio Cesar Chavez vs Greg Haugen bout. A record-breaking audience of 132,247 boxing enthusiasts filled the stadium. Nunn, known as "Second To" and hailing from Davenport, Iowa, showcased his southpaw stance and impressive reach of 77 inches during the match.
Less than a month prior to this fight, Nunn had successfully defended his title in a rematch against Victor Cordoba. This quick turnaround did not seem to affect Nunn's performance, as he entered the ring with his signature confidence and focus.
The match started with both fighters sizing each other up, exchanging a few cautious jabs. As the first round progressed, Nunn began to find his rhythm, landing several clean punches on Morgan. Nunn's speed and precision became increasingly evident, making it difficult for Morgan to respond effectively.
In the second round, Nunn continued his dominance by increasing the pressure on Morgan. At 2:59, Nunn landed a decisive knockout punch on Morgan, sealing his victory and successfully defending his WBA World Super-middleweight Title. Referee Enzo Montero stepped in to stop the fight, declaring Nunn the winner.
