Saul Alvarez took care of his WBC mandatory challenger Avni Yildirim in 3 rounds and cleared the way for a May 5th duel with WBO World Super-middleweight Champion Billy Joe Saunders.
Alvarez dropped Yildirim in the 3rd round and although the Turkish fighter survived to the end of the round his cornerman Joel Diaz decided to pull him out.
