Jorge David Castaneda beats Otha Jones III by majority decision

Jorge David Castaneda is a fighter worth looking out for. He knows how to box and he knows how to fight on the inside. He will beat a lot of good fighters in the future.

Otha Jones III is blessed with god-given talent but isn't using his abilities when confronted with someone as determined and as well-schooled as Castaneda. His lack of control of distance and the inability to tie up his opponent cost him dearly against the 24-year-old Castenada from Laredo, Texas.

After the first three rounds, Jones III lost control of things as Castenada stepped up the pace and used his height and reach advantage to knock the 21-year-old from Toledo, Ohio completely out of his stride. His cornerman could be heard yelling 'stop the momentum' over and over or, in other words, grab hold of Castenada like he's your long lost mother, or use those feet to manoeuvre yourself out of trouble, but Otha did neither and took too many hard shots.

The right man got the decision and it was good to see Jones III applaud Castenada as the result was announced but, Jones III needs to make some changes because he's not a heavy puncher, so, those slick boxing skills need to be honed further, he needs to learn to fight at mid-range more when his opponent is taller and longer, get in and out of range as he did in the early rounds.

Otha, go and watch Sugar Ray Leonard's old fights.
