Andrey Fedosov (31-3) was a big underdog going into his scheduled 12 round heavyweight bout against Azerbaijan's Mahammadrasul Majidov (3-0) despite a huge gulf in completed professional rounds. That advantage didn't seem to stand for much as Majidov landed hard, accurate jabs that shook Fedosov in the 1st round, but the fight changed dramatically when Fedosov landed a perfectly timed right hand that dropped Majidov heavily. It was clear instantly that Majidov badly damaged his right ankle as he fell. The 34-year-old Majidov got up but found himself on the canvas a second-time courtesy of another Fedosov right.
As soon as Majidov's cornerman removed his boot and sock, it became clear just how severe the injury was as his ankle swelled and turned purple.
Nothing should be taken away from Fedosov who feinted the jab and landed the perfect right hand to get the shock victory.
