Adam Azim boxed his way to a 10-round shut-out victory over Santos Reyes in their 10-round super-lightweight bout that saw the young Brit make several breakthroughs in his career. Azim was headlining a major arena for the first time and had only previously gone beyond six rounds once in his career.

Azim dropped Reyes heavily in the second round but was unable to finish the fight. Despite this, the 20-year-old ‘Assassin’ emerged victorious, taking all 10 rounds, much to the surprise of many.

The bout saw Azim assert his control from the very first second, using his razor-sharp jab to control the distance and occasionally testing the waters with his right hand. He dropped Reyes in the second round with a heavy headshot, but the Nicaraguan weathered the storm and landed a counter left hook before the end of the round. Azim continued to direct his attacks at Reyes, both above and below the elbow and was successful in his efforts. However, Reyes still managed to grin back at Azim.

In the final few rounds, Azim continued to work largely in singles and doubles, settling into the role of a low-volume power puncher. Despite suffering from an apparent injury to his right hand, Azim still threw it until the final bell and emerged victorious with a shut-out score of 100-89 from all three judges. Azim’s trainer, Shane McGuigan, was pleased with the outcome of the fight, stating that it provided the young fighter with valuable experience and showcased the skills they have been working on in the gym. Overall, it was a historic night in the office for Azim, and there are sure to be more spectacular victories to come.
