Wembley Arena was the venue for a 10-round super-middleweight bout between Zak Chelli and Anthony Sims Jr. The fight never quite lived up to its hype, as fireworks that were expected never really materialized as Chelli controlled most of the rounds and outlanded Sims through most of the fight, except for one short spell in the eighth round when the Las Vegas resident came alive. Despite winning the round, Sims could not build on it and Chelli closed out the fight without much trouble, claiming the victory by unanimous decision and the WBA continental super-middleweight title.
The early stages of the fight saw both fighters throw very little but feint and posture plenty. However, as the fight progressed, Chelli upped his output slightly and began to find a home for big overhand rights which Sims failed to block or slip. The fourth and fifth rounds saw even more of Chelli's shots getting through, leading to Sims attempting to catch and counter with the left hook, with limited success.
In the eighth round, Chelli struggled to deal with the sudden change of pace and the round ended with Sims body-slamming Chelli nearly through the ropes, but that was as good as it got for the visitor as Chelli ground out the final few rounds to seal the victory.
After the fight, Chelli stated that he felt he outboxed the boxer and that once Sims boxed himself out in the eighth round, the final two rounds would be easy.
