The third fight between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, held on Saturday, November 12, 2011, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, was highly anticipated. The fight was promoted by Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions and was aired on HBO Pay-Per-View. Pacquiao was defending his World Boxing Organization Welterweight Title for the third time.

Both fighters agreed to a catchweight of 144 pounds for the bout. Pacquiao had previously knocked Marquez down three times in their first fight and once in their second, but there were no knockdowns in this bout. It was a closely contested fight with neither fighter gaining a clear advantage over the other throughout the match.

The judges scored the fight in favor of Pacquiao with a majority decision. Two judges scored it 116-112 in favor of Pacquiao, while the third judge scored it a 114-114 draw. Despite the result, many fans and critics believed that Marquez deserved the victory, and the decision was met with controversy.

In the tenth round of the fight, Pacquiao was accidentally headbutted by Marquez, which caused a cut over his right eye. The cut was severe and required twenty-eight stitches. Pacquiao continued to fight, and the injury did not affect his performance significantly.

The fight was a commercial success, generating 1.4 million pay-per-view buys in the United States, making it Pacquiao's best pay-per-view total ever. The match was also the most-watched boxing match ever in Mexico, with an estimated 37.2 million fans watching the fight on the Azteca network.

The bout was named the 2011 Event of the Year by The Ring Magazine. It was an exciting and closely contested match, with both fighters putting on  impressive performances.
