On Sunday, November 23, 2014, Manny Pacquiao and Chris Algieri faced off at the Cotai Arena, Venetian Resort, Macao. The match was promoted by Top Rank and SECA Ltd. and aired on HBO Pay-Per-View, drawing a sold-out crowd of 13,201.
The fight was for the WBO World Welterweight Title, which was the first defense of the second reign by Pacquiao. Both boxers weighed in at 144 pounds. Pacquiao, who is boxing's only eight-division titleholder, was favored to win the fight due to his extensive experience and impressive record.
From the opening bell, Pacquiao took control of the fight, dominating Algieri with his quick footwork and powerful punches. Pacquiao landed a series of devastating blows throughout the fight, and Algieri struggled to keep up. Despite Algieri's best efforts, Pacquiao scored six knockdowns over the course of the fight.
Algieri showed incredible resilience throughout the match, managing to get back up after each knockdown and continue fighting. However, his efforts were not enough to overcome Pacquiao's dominance in the ring. Despite Algieri's toughness, the judges unanimously awarded the victory to Pacquiao, who won in a lopsided decision.
