Keyshawn Davis vs Nahir Albright

This one has a bit more needle than the usual hometown showcase. Keyshawn Davis and Nahir Albright meet again at Scope Arena in Norfolk on May 16, in a 12-round super-lightweight rematch, and there is proper unfinished business here. Davis won their first fight in 2023, but it was changed to a no-contest after a marijuana test. Since then, Albright has beaten Davis’s brother Kelvin, which only poured petrol on the old fire. Top Rank bills it as “Unfinished Business,” and for once the label actually fits. Davis is the bigger name, the Olympic silver medallist, the better talent, and the man expected to do the business in front of his own people.

Davis has faster hands, better feet, a smoother rhythm, and the sort of boxing brain that should let him control this from the outside. When he is switched on, he can jab, step, pivot, and make a man feel like he is punching smoke. Albright, though, is a Philly nuisance, and I mean that as a compliment. He is awkward, stubborn, knows how to spoil a rhythm, and he already knows Davis can be made uncomfortable. His route is to drag Davis into ugly little exchanges, crowd him, lean on him, talk to him, and make the hometown boy fight with emotion instead of discipline.

I am taking Keyshawn Davis by unanimous decision. Albright is too proud and too awkward to just roll over, and he may pinch a couple of rounds by making it scruffy, but Davis should be too fast, too accurate and too seasoned over 12.
