Jose Armando Resendiz vs Jaime Munguia

Another great fight on one of the best bills of the year, and yet another tough one to pick a winner from. The more experienced man, Munguia, is a former light middleweight world champion who lost in a challenge for the undisputed super middleweight title to ‘Canelo' Alvarez in May 2024. Since then, he has scored a good win over Canadian Eric Bazinyan, suffered a shock defeat to Frenchman Bruno Surrace, and then avenged himself five months later. Resendiz, on the other hand, seemed to have shown his level by losing to prospect Elijah Garcia in September 2023, but he came back and scored the shock of the year with a split decision win over Caleb Plant in a great battle. On experience alone, it’s hard to pick against Munguia, and yet, having seen the way in which Resendiz was able to keep Plant under sustained pressure until the final bell, it makes me think that if Munguia has slipped from his peak, then Resendiz could be in the right place at the right time.
