Story

Jorge Ivan Chavez was born on January 15, 2000, in Mexico, but built his boxing identity across the border in San Diego, California. From an early age, boxing was his passion; he amassed an impressive amateur record of around 60 wins against just seven defeats, despite the limitations that often come with being an immigrant athlete without the expansive support systems many U.S.-based amateurs enjoy. That disciplined, boxer-puncher approach carried over seamlessly when he transitioned to the paid ranks in late 2021.

His professional debut took place on November 13, 2021, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, during the undercard of Munguia vs. Rosado. There, Chavez entered the ring against Mexico City's Gilberto Aguilar in a scheduled four-round super-featherweight bout. From bell to bell, he demonstrated polished fundamentals, solid straight punches, tight defence, and athletic movement, earning a unanimous decision win that set the tone for his rookie campaign.

Over the next three and a half years, Chavez quietly but relentlessly accrued victories. By April 2025, his record stood at an unblemished 14–0, including eight knockouts. His early paydays came via unanimous decisions and four-round and six-round assignments, but his punching power soon became evident in longer contests.

Training under Hector Lopez in Santa Ana, Chavez sharpened his timing and ring savvy alongside established pros like Ronny Rios and Alexis Rocha. It was that combination of fundamentals with increasing pop that caught the eye of Golden Boy Promotions, which signed him in November 2023. With Golden Boy's backing, Chavez began taking on more ambitious opponents in eight-round contests, solidifying his reputation as a rising star in the 122-pound division.

True to the Golden Boy blueprint, he began encountering higher-level foes late in 2024. On December 14, he stepped into the ring in Ontario, California, against Ruben Dario Casero and earned another unanimous decision, bringing his record to 13–0 by late 2024. By spring 2025, he had proven he belonged in tougher matchups, delivering a controlled performance against Brandon Douglas on the Fundora–Badillo undercard, showcasing both the crowd-pleasing energy and technical precision that make Chavez a prospect to watch. The win took him to 14–0 with 8 KOs.
