Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley
WBO World Heavyweight Title · O2 Arena, London, England · DAZN PPV
Why the House picks Fabio Wardley
This rematch comes down to whether Fabio Wardley can make a few sensible adjustments without trying to turn himself into something he isn’t. I believe he can. He doesn’t need rebuilding from the boots up; he needs to control his aggression, manage the distance better and stop giving Dubois long spells where Daniel can set his feet and unload.
Wardley already knows his awkward right hand can hurt Dubois. The mistake last time was chasing the finish and allowing the fight to become a physical grind on Dubois’ terms. This time, Fabio must feint before throwing it, jab towards the chest and make Dubois commit first. Daniel is dangerous when he gets into a steady rhythm, but he remains uncomfortable when forced backwards and still retreats in straight lines with his chin high. Wardley must keep turning him rather than following him around.
Dubois has the cleaner fundamentals. His jab is heavier, his combinations are straighter, and he is the better body puncher. But he can become predictable when his opponent disrupts his rhythm. Fabio’s unconventional timing is a genuine advantage because Daniel likes everything neat and directly in front of him.
Wardley's key is knowing when not to fight. He must clinch after landing, avoid standing square during prolonged exchanges and save enough engine for the second half. If he does that, Dubois will become frustrated and start forcing his work.
I don’t expect Wardley to win a tidy boxing match. I expect him to fight a much smarter version of his own fight, hurt Dubois again and remain composed enough to finish the job. Wardley wins by stoppage.
