Usyk Retains But Controversy Rages After 5th Round Knockdown

Oleksandr Usyk knocked out Daniel Dubois in the ninth round of the heavyweight world title fight in Poland last night. Usyk retained his WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight world titles. Dubois was knocked down at the end of round eight, and in the next round, a tiring Dubois was sent to the canvas again and failed to beat the count. 

Dubois floored Usyk in the fifth round with a punch deemed a low blow by the referee. Usyk took several minutes to recover after being hit with a punch that the referee deemed low. 

According to BBC Sport, Briton Daniel Dubois felt "cheated out of victory" after losing his world title challenge to Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk on a dramatic night in front of 40,000 boisterous fans in Poland.
