Anthony Olascuaga vs Yuberjen Martinez
WBO World Flyweight Title · Dignity Health Sports Park, Carson, California · DAZN
Why the House picks Anthony Olascuaga
I fancy Olascuaga here, but anyone dismissing Martinez because he’s had only seven professional fights is being lazy. The Colombian knows his way round a ring. The question is how he handles sustained pressure from someone who can match his combinations and hurt him.
Martinez’s quick combinations can win him exchanges, especially if he finishes with a step off to the side. I’d want him making Olascuaga reset constantly. His professional opposition leaves questions about how effectively he can do that deep into a hard fight.
Olascuaga’s uppercuts are the danger when Martinez stays close after punching. He puts shots together with spite, changing the target between head and body. He can leave himself available for counters when he gets carried away, though; walking in expecting his power to settle everything would be daft.
I expect Martinez to have sharp early spells, but Olascuaga’s heavier combinations will gradually shorten his attacks. My pick is Olascuaga by stoppage in the tenth.
