Tim Tszyu won the biggest fight of his career so far at a canter. Dennis Hogan's previous two opponents were Jermall Charlo and Jaime Munguia, and although Charlo stopped the transplanted Irishman in 7 rounds up at middleweight, Munguia had a real struggle to retain his WBO World super-welterweight crown against the rough and ready Hogan in Monterrey, Mexico, so Hogan was a relevant name to take Tszyu into the top echelons of the worlds' 154 lb division.
Tszyu demonstrated to the watching PPV audience on Main Events (Australia) why he believes he can take over the super-welterweight division globally with an easy win over a proven world-class contender.
Hogan was never in this race, Tszyu dominated from the first bell until he floored Hogan with a big left-uppercut in the 5th round, and although the Irishman made it to his feet, he was met with a barrage of punches that led his corner to throw in the towel.
Referee John Cauchi waved the fight off at 2:29 of the 5th round to record Tszyu's 18th victory, and 14th by way of stoppage.
