Two-time Venezuelan Olympian Gabriel Maestre found to his detriment that gaining a controversial win in a televised main event can do more harm to your reputation than taking the loss. Maestre's WBA Interim World Welterweight Title coronation against late replacement Mykal Fox shook up a storm of criticism from angry fans and boxing insiders over the scorecard of judge Gloria Martinez Rizzo.
The fallout shouldn't land on Maestre who had to get up off the canvas in the 2nd round and was winning the middle rounds. Fox though, fought an intelligent fight and thoroughly deserved the win at the end of the 12 rounds.
Scores: John Mariano 115-112 | Gloria Martinez Rizzo 117-110 | David Singh 114-113.
