Gabriel Flores wins two knockdown sixth round stoppage of Jayson Velez

Gabriel Flores scored an important victory over Jayson Velez as chief supporting bout on the Berchelt vs Valdez card at the Bubble at the MGM Grand.

The win and the manner of victory put the 20-year-old from Las vegas in a strong position to challenge for world honours in the not too distant future.

Velez, from Juncos, Puerto Rico found himself on the canvas in round 6 courtesy of a Flores left hook and when he beat the count another left hook dumped him on the deck for the second time prompting referee Tony Weeks to count out the veteran at 1:47 of the round.
