David Lemieux takes out David Zegarra in two rounds in Mexico

Former IBF world middleweight champion David Lemieux picked up his fifth consecutive win since his catastrophic loss to Billy Joe Saunders in December 2017 when he demolished 36-year-old, David Zegarra, from Lima, Peru at the Holiday Inn in Cuernavaca, Mexico.

Previous stoppage losses to Shefat Isufi, Erik Bazinyan, and Stefan Haertel marked Zegarra out as an unlikely candidate to stretch the big punching Canadian too far, and so it transpired as Lemieux scored three knockdowns and ended matters in the 2nd round.

Lemieux needs to be facing much better opposition if he is to return to world title contention in the super-middleweight division.
