In his second reign as a World Super-lightweight titleholder, Judah made his first defence against unknown Columbian Jaime Rangel on Don King's eight world title bout card at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

In his first fight on American soil, Rangel found out the hard way what elite-level boxing was all about. A perfectly timed left cross from Judah's southpaw stance dropped the challenger on his back to be counted out by referee Frank Cappuccino at 1:12 of the first round.

Rangel would have the final five fights of his professional career in the USA and never win one of them.
