The third encounter between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley Jr. took place on Saturday 9th April 2016 at the MGM Grand, Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The fight was promoted by Top Rank and aired on HBO Pay-per-view. The vacant WBO International Welterweight Title was up for grabs. Pacquiao and Bradley Jr. had fought twice previously, in June 2012 and April 2014. The stage was set for another epic showdown.
The fight was dominated by Manny Pacquiao from the outset. He came out aggressively and landed a flurry of punches on Bradley Jr. In the seventh round, Pacquiao scored a knockdown of Bradley Jr. and continued to dominate the rest of the round. Bradley Jr. managed to get back to his feet, but the damage was done. Pacquiao continued to push the pace, throwing and landing more punches than Bradley Jr.
In the ninth round, Pacquiao scored another knockdown of Bradley Jr., this time with a left hook. Bradley Jr. managed to survive the round, but it was clear that Pacquiao was in control of the fight. Pacquiao continued to outwork Bradley Jr. in the later rounds, landing punches at will and pushing the pace. Bradley Jr. tried to mount a comeback, but it was too little, too late.
In the end, all three judges ringside scored the bout 116-110, giving Pacquiao the unanimous decision victory. Bradley Jr. lost two points on the knockdowns, which sealed his fate. Pacquiao was awarded a special version of the vacant WBO International title in recognition of his win. It was a fitting end to a dominant performance.
