On the 24th of April, 1999, the Araneta Coliseum in Barangay Cubao, Quezon City, Metro Manila witnessed an exciting WBC World Flyweight Title fight between Manny Pacquiao and Gabriel Mira. This fight was promoted by Philip E Juico and marked the first defense of the title for Pacquiao, who had won it from Chatchai Sasakul.

Pacquiao had a height and reach advantage over Mira. Pacquiao had a record of 25-1 (16 KOs) coming into the fight.

The fight started off evenly matched, with both fighters trading blows. However, in the second round, Mira was knocked down by a hard punch from Pacquiao. Mira managed to get back up and continued the fight, but he was knocked down again in the third round by Pacquiao.

In the fourth round, Pacquiao unleashed a flurry of punches that saw Mira knocked down three times. The referee, Richard Steele, had seen enough and stopped the fight at 2:45 in the fourth round, awarding Pacquiao the win by TKO.

The judges at the fight were Dalby Shirley, Tony Perez, and Jae Bong Kim. Shirley scored the fight 30-26 in favor of Pacquiao, while Perez scored it 29-26. Kim had Pacquiao winning the fight 30-25.
