For Joe Calzaghe's 11th defence of his WBO World Super-middleweight crown, promoter Frank Warren secured Cardiff Castle as the venue but had to settle for a late replacement opponent for the Welsh hero.

American Miguel Angel Jimenez came in on short notice but made the 168lb weight limit and with only one defeat on his 22-fight record, no one knew what to expect from the 22-year-old challenger.

The champion dominated from the first bell to the last. Jimenez only occasionally had time to mount any offence but proved to be resilient and brave during the 12 rounds.
