Age on fight night 32Why the House picks Jaime Munguia
This is a big ask for Zon. He can fight, but Munguia has dealt with a level of opposition the Russian hasn’t consistently faced.
Zon’s southpaw left and commitment to the body deserve respect. He’s effective when he builds his attacks patiently, and Munguia can leave openings when he gets carried away throwing combinations. The Surace defeat showed what happens when he forgets about what's coming back.
But Munguia boxed with more discipline against Resendiz, using his jab and movement instead of forcing every exchange. That matters here. I’d want him making Zon reset, then putting punches together before the Russian can establish his feet.
Zon’s problem is keeping himself protected while working. Against Lopez, being busy didn’t stop him from taking the cleaner, heavier shots. Munguia can exploit that with sustained combinations upstairs and downstairs.
I’m picking Munguia by stoppage somewhere between rounds 5 and 10. Zon will have his moments, but I expect Munguia’s combination punching and body attack to wear him down.
