Dave Allen vs Filip Hrgovic

There aren't many Brits who would find Dave Allen’s match against Croatian Filip Hrgovic anything other than something he deserves. Nice isn’t always a trait that does well in boxing, but that is what Dave Allen is: a nice guy. The other thing about the man known as the White Rhino is that he can sell out 9,000 seats at the Sheffield Arena, but the Keepmoat Stadium has a capacity of just over 15,000. I’m wondering now whether promoter Queensberry is betting that Dave can sell this out. I, for one, wouldn’t be at all surprised. 

But down to the fight, and once again, as with his match against Arslanbek Makhmudov, I feel that Dave will put up a brave fight against a superior opponent and lose on points. I’d love to see the opposite outcome, but reality bites. Filip Hrgovic is a quality boxer who I believe will keep Allen at the end of his educated jab and right hands and probably bust the Doncaster man up. But as Dave showed against Makhmudov, he is nothing if not brave till the end.
