New York's Trevor Bryan moved from Interim WBA world heavyweight champion to full belt holder with an 11th round stoppage of former WBC champion Bermane Stiverne at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
There was not too much to choose between the pair by the halfway mark, Stiverne landed the harder punches with his overhand rights, but Bryan's jab and higher work rate more than made up for it.
The 42-year-old Stiverne started to slow down by the 8th round and it was all Bryan apart from the occasional countering overhand right over Bryan's jab from the former WBC champion. But, in the 11th Bryan finally found a home for his right hand and dropped Stiverne twice. After getting up after the second knockdown, an exhausted Stiverne was rescued by referee Frank Gentile at 1:26 of the round.
