Shakan Pitters Stops Substitute Bahadur Karami In Two Rounds

Shakan Pitters marked his return to the ring after a 16-month hiatus with a decisive victory over Bahadur Karami at the Park Community Arena in Sheffield, England. The bout was far from what Pitters had initially signed up for, as he was originally slated to compete for the European Boxing Union (EBU) light heavyweight title. However, two opponents withdrew, leading to Karami stepping in as a last-minute replacement.

Now boasting a record of 20-2 with seven knockouts, Pitters utilized his height advantage to control the fight from the outset. In the first round, he effectively picked off Karami from a distance, showcasing his precision and reach. As the fight progressed into the second round, Pitters increased the intensity of his attacks. Karami, with a record of 4-24-4 and only one knockout victory, struggled to cope with Pitters' power and precision.

The turning point came midway through the second round when Pitters landed a hard right that sent Karami crashing to the canvas. Although Karami managed to rise, he was visibly shaken and struggled to regain his footing. Sensing victory, Pitters seized the opportunity to secure his first stoppage win since 2021. He unleashed a barrage of powerful hooks to Karami's body, followed by a couple of uppercuts that left his opponent defenceless. Referee Michael Alexander intervened, stopping the fight at two minutes and 13 seconds of the second round.
