Ricardo Sandoval drops Jay Harris twice in eighth round stoppage win

Ricardo Sandoval looked dangerous from the first bell of his IBF world flyweight title eliminator against Jay Harris which was the headline event on MTK's show from the Bolton Whites Hotel in Bolton. Harris lost the first few rounds but came back from the 3rd to make things even on the cards.

Sandoval, a 22-year-old from Rialto, California looked to have the power to hurt Harris and did so on several occasions, opening up cuts around the Welshman's left eye.

The action was back and forth with both able to land hard shots to the body and head, but Sandoval appeared to hurt Harris to the body every time he landed solidly.

In the 8th, Sandoval dropped Harris early with a left hook to the ribs and although the 30-year-old Harris made it to his feet, Sandoval landed an even better left hook moments later that dropped the Welshman again. This time referee Michael Alexander's count reached ten with Harris still on the canvas.

The unheralded Sandoval looks a very dangerous fighter for any of the world's top flyweights and deserves his shot at IBF titleholder Sunny Edwards.
