Former two-time world amateur champion Mikhail Aloyan went to 6-1 as a pro and scored his first stoppage win in the process when he forced Ukrainian Olexander Hryschuk to retire on medical grounds at the end of the 8th round of their WBA Gold World Super-flyweight Title fight at the Sibur Arena in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Aloyan won the vacant WBA Gold belt in his last outing against Panama's Ronal Batista.
At 35-years of age, Aloyan needs to get back into another world title challenge as soon as possible. He proved that he can mix it with the best in the world when he lost to the then WBO world bantamweight champion Zolani Tete in October 2018.
