Lyndon Arthur edged Bradley Rea by majority decision over twelve rounds at Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena, taking the European light-heavyweight title by scores of 115–112, 115–113 and 114–114. Rea made a faster start. He stepped briskly into range behind a purposeful jab and surprised Arthur with his willingness to trade in the pocket. Late in the second round, Rea scored a clean knockdown, a moment that lifted the noise in the arena and briefly put Arthur on the back foot. The challenger beat the count, held his shape and used his legs to see out the session without further damage. Through three rounds, Rea pressed the issue with straight punching and short hooks when he closed the gap, while Arthur looked to settle behind a longer jab and check the forward rush with single counters.

Arthur found rhythm in the middle section. From the fourth to the seventh, he steadied the pace, widened his stance and lengthened his shots, bringing the jab consistently into play and setting up the right hand that helped dissuade Rea from marching straight in. The exchanges were competitive—Rea had success when he quickened his feet and doubled the jab to drive Arthur toward the ropes—but the older man worked more cleanly between the bursts, picking off entries and then stepping off to reset the angle. By the eighth, Arthur’s timing looked better and his defence tighter, and he appeared to be chipping away at the early deficit built by the knockdown.

The championship rounds were tense and largely tactical. Rea tried to reclaim momentum by leading again, looking to crowd Arthur and force exchanges after first contact. Arthur, mindful of the earlier flashpoint, kept his guard compact and answered with straight punches, then tied Rea up or circled out before prolonged trading could develop. Both men landed eye-catching singles in the ninth and tenth; the cleaner sequences came from Arthur’s measured jab–right hand, though Rea’s raids drew the eye of the home support.
