In a competitive contest at the Hotel Elysee in Rothenbaum, Germany, Ukraine's Karen Chukhadzhian earned a twelve-round unanimous decision victory over England's Harry Scarff, setting himself up for a shot at the IBF welterweight title. With scores of 116-112 from all three judges, Chukhadzhian demonstrated his superiority and precision, overcoming early challenges to secure the win.

Chukhadzhian, with a record of 24-2 and 13 knockouts, is now the mandatory challenger for the unbeaten Jaron 'Boots' Ennis, who boasts an impressive 31-0 record with 28 knockouts. This potential bout would be a highly anticipated rematch of their previous encounter on January 6, where Ennis emerged victorious via a lopsided unanimous decision, claiming the interim IBF title. Since then, Ennis has been elevated to the status of full titleholder and is set to defend his belt against Cody Crowley on July 13 in his hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The bout against Scarff was a crucial step for Chukhadzhian, who had to navigate a tough first half. The early rounds were marked by momentum shifts and untidy exchanges, and Chukhadzhian suffered from swelling around his eye. Despite these challenges, he remained focused and resilient, using his superior accuracy to gain the upper hand.

Scarff, entering the ring with a 13-3 record and 3 knockouts, managed to make the fight competitive, especially in the initial rounds. His strategy of applying pressure and making Chukhadzhian uncomfortable kept the bout close through the first six rounds. However, Chukhadzhian's ability to land clean punches and his effective bodywork helped him gradually pull away in the latter half of the fight.

Scarff made a valiant effort in the eleventh round, relying heavily on his power shots to turn the tide. Chukhadzhian, however, adapted quickly and finished the bout strong, securing his third consecutive victory. This loss marked the end of a four-fight win streak for the 30-year-old Scarff from Derby, England.

Looking ahead, Chukhadzhian is expected to take on one more stay-busy fight before the IBF mandates the title clash. This forthcoming title fight will likely see Chukhadzhian return to the United States, assuming Ennis defends his title against Crowley. Since signing with them earlier this year, Ennis, a key figure for Matchroom Boxing, is viewed as a significant marketing asset.
