London based Afghan Quaise Khademi found himself topping the bill after pull-outs from Carl Frampton (Herring vs Frampton), and Anthony Cacace vs Lyon Woodstock.
The expected win for Khademi (8-0-0) against Ahmed (7-2-0) from Birmingham never came to fruition as the Birmingham man fought an aggressive fight from the start, nullifying some of Khademi's better boxing.
Khademi might feel hard done by with the split decision in Ahmed's favour.
Scores: Michael Alexander 96-95 | Howard Foster 95-95 | Bob Williams 96-94.
