Dmitry Bivol Outboxes Beterbiev to Become Undisputed Champion

In a thrilling rematch of their October clash, Dmitry Bivol avenged his only career loss by defeating Artur Beterbiev via unanimous decision to become the undisputed light heavyweight champion of the world. The highly anticipated bout, which took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, saw Bivol showcase his technical prowess and defensive skills to outmanoeuvre the hard-hitting Beterbiev over 12 rounds.

Bivol established his jab and footwork from the opening bell, keeping Beterbiev at bay and frustrating the aggressive champion. As the fight progressed, Bivol's precise counterpunching and ring generalship began to tell, as he consistently landed clean shots while avoiding Beterbiev's power punches1. The middle rounds saw intense exchanges, with Beterbiev having moments of success, but Bivol's superior boxing skills allowed him to maintain control of the fight.

In the championship rounds, both fighters dug deep, knowing the fight was still up for grabs. Bivol's stamina and concentration held up, allowing him to finish strong and secure the victory on the judges' scorecards1. The final scores were 115-113, 116-112, and 117-111 in favour of Bivol, reflecting his dominant performance.

In the ring after the fight, Bivol expressed gratitude for the opportunity and acknowledged Beterbiev's challenge. "I want to say thank you to everybody who supported me and believed in my skills," Bivol stated at the post-fight press conference. Beterbiev, gracious in defeat, admitted he needed a few rounds to "wake up" and get into the fight.

The ringside media overwhelmingly scored the bout in Bivol's favour, with many praising his masterful boxing display. Eddie Hearn, Bivol's promoter, was particularly vocal about the performance, stating, “What we saw tonight was just one of the great fights, one of the greatest examples of our sport. We saw one of the purest boxers, one of the most skilful fighters I've ever seen.”

The victory sets up potential super fights for Bivol in the future, with talks of a possible trilogy bout already circulating. Both fighters expressed openness to a rubber match, with Bivol stating, "If the fans want it, I would like to give this rematch and get this chance again."
