Diego Pacheco Scores UD Victory Over Steven Nelson

In an eagerly anticipated super middleweight bout, Diego Pacheco handed Steven Nelson his first professional loss at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on January 25, 2025. Pacheco, who entered the ring unbeaten, extended his record to 23-0 with a unanimous decision victory, showcasing his boxing prowess over the seasoned Nelson.

Pacheco leveraged his height and reach advantage from the opening bell, dictating the pace with a stiff jab and controlled movements. Nelson, a tough competitor with a record of 20-1 before this fight, struggled to find his rhythm against the younger, more agile fighter. The judges scored the bout 117-111 across the board, reflecting Pacheco's dominance throughout most of the contest.

Despite trailing significantly on the scorecards, Nelson launched a fierce comeback in the final rounds, giving the fight a dramatic twist and the crowd something to cheer about. His efforts, bolstered by sharp combinations and aggressive pursuit, brought the spectators to their feet but were insufficient to overturn the early deficits.

Pacheco was already looking ahead post-match, expressing his intent to face top-tier opponents in the super middleweight division. Names like Christian Mbilli, Edgar Berlanga, and Caleb Plant were mentioned as potential next opponents for the rising star.

This victory cements Pacheco's status as a top contender in the super middleweight category. It poses questions about what's next for Nelson, who, at 36, showed that he still has the heart of a warrior, albeit in defeat.
