Daniel Dubois returned to winning ways after his defeat to British rival Joe Joyce by demolishing Romania's Bogdan Dinu with the vacant WBA Interim World Heavyweight Title at stake in the main event on Queensberry Promotions show, staged at the Telford International Centre in Telford, Shropshire.
Having a world title up for grabs was laughable seeing as Dubois was coming off the Joyce loss and Dinu had lost to both Jarrell Miller and Kubrat Pulev in his last four outings but, the win is a good one for the 23-year-old Dubois who is now trained by Shane McGuigan and looks to gain the skills and experience he needs to get past the likes of Joyce the next time he faces that level of opposition.
There was nothing new to see in this performance, Dubois as we always knew, is just too powerful and athletic for anyone but the highest level heavyweights out there. In the second round, Dinu went down from a big right-hand over a lazy jab. Referee Marcus McDonnell counted the WBA's No 4 ranked heavyweight out at 0:31 of the round.
We will have to be patient while McGuigan adds some slickness to Dubois already formidable arsenal of skills, but, it should be interesting to watch.
