Fight Report
Brandon Adams claimed a unanimous decision over Serhii Bohachuk in their rematch, a ten-round catchweight bout held at ~154 pounds on September 13, 2025, at Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas. Adams (who came in with a record of 25-4, 16 KOs) improved to 26-4 (16 KOs) with this win, whilst Bohachuk (26-2, 24 KOs) dropped to 26-3 (24 KOs). The judges scored it 99-91, 98-92, and 98-92 in Adams’s favour.
From the opening bell, Adams imposed a sustained body attack that slowly turned the tide in what was primarily fought on the inside. Bohachuk, known for his power and durability, tried to remain aggressive, trading head and body blows in close quarters. But Adams showed more consistency with damaging left hooks to the body and overhand right shots to Bohachuk’s head, especially in the middle rounds. Bohachuk did land combinations, including uppercuts, and showed moments of success, especially early, but could not maintain a level of offence sufficient to sway the judges.
Punch statistics back up the narrative of Adams controlling much of the fight. According to Compubox round stats, Adams landed more total punches in nearly every round. For example, in the first round, Adams landed 28 of 85 total punches (?32.9%) to Bohachuk’s 13 of 85 (?15.3%). The power punches were particularly effective for Adams: in many rounds, he connected at high percentages, with round 10 seeing him land 30 of 68 power punches (?44.1%) compared to Bohachuk’s 16 of 44 (?36.4%) in that round. Bodywork was another area where Adams had the edge, both in the number of connections and in damage. Over the ten rounds, Adams landed 233 body punches (including 88 power body shots) from 812 body-punch attempts, while Bohachuk landed 220 body shots (28 power body shots) from 836 attempts. Despite Bohachuk’s height and reach advantages (he is taller by roughly three inches), Adams’s inside work negated those edges.
The key moments came in rounds 4 through 8. Adams began to take over from round four onward as Bohachuk’s offence, though still dangerous, became less effective in terms of damage. By round six, Adams increased power-punch output and visibly hurt Bohachuk with overhand rights and body hooks. In round seven, Adams froze Bohachuk with a solid overhand right to the head. In the eighth, a crooked left hook just before the bell knocked Bohachuk off balance, a symbolic moment that underlined Adams’s dominance at that stage. Bohachuk tried to mount a late rally, landing right uppercuts and stepping back into exchanges, but the momentum had long shifted.
Atmosphere and stakes contributed significantly to the drama. The fight formed part of the undercard of Canelo Álvarez vs Terence Crawford, lending it extra exposure. Adams, at age 36, was seen by many as past his prime. Still, despite that, he approached this rematch with determination to reverse narratives from Bohachuk’s recent performances, particularly his loss to Vergil Ortiz Jr in August 2024, when he was ranked highly by the WBC in the division. For Bohachuk, this fight represented a chance at redemption—not only over Adams, who had stopped him in their first bout (by TKO in 2021), but to preserve his position among the top contenders at 154 lbs. The crowd, aligned with the bigger names above them on the card, still appreciated the close combat, sustained action, and constant exchanges—it was hardly a quiet prelim. The judges’ scorecards make clear that Adams’s consistency, damage output, and early control were decisive.
In the end, Brandon Adams proved that certain styles do match up against Bohachuk in ways that negate his strengths. Adams neutralised Bohachuk’s reach, stifled his power with body attacks, and outworked him over ten rounds. For Bohachuk, this is a setback at a vital juncture—he remains powerful, durable, and dangerous. Still, this performance exposed issues in inside fighting discipline, punch output decay in mid-rounds, and the ability to adapt when his opponent begins to dictate tempo. Adams reclaims bragging rights, not just for the win itself, but for proving in the rematch that the first Adams win was no fluke. This victory may open doors for Adams for higher-profile fights, given his age, record, and now two wins over Bohachuk. At the same time, Bohachuk will need to regroup, perhaps change tactical approach, and get back into form to regain position among the top-tier in super welterweight.
