Arnold Barboza Gets Decision Win Over Jose Ramirez

Arnold Barboza extended his unbeaten record to 31-0 (11 KOs) with a tactical unanimous decision victory over Jose Ramirez in Riyadh. The judges scored the contest 97-93, 96-94, and 96-94, reflecting Barboza's superior ring control throughout the ten rounds.

Barboza established his game plan from the opening bell with precise footwork and an educated jab, claiming the first three rounds through measured boxing at range. Ramirez struggled to close the distance effectively until the fourth round, when he finally succeeded with his first significant offensive sequence.

Round five saw Ramirez land a solid right hand, but Barboza's composure remained unshaken. He consistently avoided engaging in close-quarters warfare that would have favoured his opponent's aggressive style, instead maintaining discipline with movement and counter-punching.

The fight's pattern continued through the middle rounds, with Barboza controlling space and nullifying Ramirez's attempts to force a brawl. Despite Robert Garcia urging Ramirez to produce "something big" before the final round, Barboza finished stronger. He punctuated his victory with a sharp right hand at the 30-second mark and a reverse one-two combination in the closing moments that visibly impacted Ramirez.

Barboza called for a world title opportunity post-fight, noting his position as the only top-five contender yet to receive a championship bout. "This was my championship fight," he declared. "Any belt, it doesn't matter."
