Ismael Negron, known as "The Mongoose," was a formidable middleweight boxer from Ponce, Puerto Rico, who made an impact in the boxing world during his career. Born on April 26, 1966, Negron's journey in the sport began with his professional debut on October 20, 1984, against Danny Winters in Dartmouth, Canada, winning a unanimous decision over the six-round course.
Negron's professional career spanned nearly eight years, concluding on July 15, 1992, against Jay Bell at The Ritz Theater in New York. During his career, Ismael faced some of the most formidable superwelterweight and middleweight opponents, including Robert Hines, Tony Montgomery, Steve Little, Tony Thornton, Reggie Johnson, and Herol Graham. One of his most notable bouts was against the legendary Julian Jackson, who was renowned for his devastating punching power. On February 15, 1992, Negron stepped into the ring with Jackson for a WBC Middleweight Title defence, unfortunately losing by knockout in the first round.
Throughout his career, Negron compiled a record of 16 wins, 10 losses, and 1 draw from 27 bouts.
