Huseyin Cinkara, known to fans as “The Hurricane,” has built his reputation through a blend of power punching and measured ambition in the cruiserweight division, tracing a professional path rarely marked by defeat and defined by steady accumulation of regional honours. Born on January 13, 1985, in Speyer, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, and now residing in Istanbul, Turkey, Cinkara brings physical presence to the ring at 6ft 3in and fights from an orthodox stance, combining a sturdy base with an aggressive approach that has repeatedly left opponents unable to reach the final bell.
Cinkara’s journey began within the amateur circuits of Germany, where he earned recognition as a bronze medalist at the national championships, setting the tone for what would become a persistent and focused climb through the sport. His amateur career, though not decorated by international medals or global acclaim, gave him the practical foundation required for the transition to the professional ranks, with experience against a variety of styles and the grit to keep moving forward despite setbacks, a theme consistent in Cinkara’s approach as a professional.
At age 31, Cinkara made his professional debut on June 18, 2016, against Marko Martinjak in his hometown region. Cinkara closed the contest by second-round technical knockout, immediately showcasing the power and intent that would become a signature throughout his career. That debut victory launched a campaign marked by brisk activity and little leniency for his adversaries. Over the next several years, Cinkara dispatched journeymen and domestic contenders, often finishing matters before the midpoint of fights—an indicator of both punching power and ring urgency. Campaigning primarily in Germany and Turkey, he rapidly built a record unmarred by defeat. He began attracting attention for his stoppage ratio, with more than 80% of his victories coming inside the distance by mid-career.
A notable shift in his journey emerged in 2018, when Cinkara faced Yury Bykhautsou for the vacant BDB International cruiserweight title. The bout ended in a knockout victory for Cinkara, marking his first significant step toward regional recognition. This win cemented his rise and provided the foundation for the pursuit of further honours. He followed up with similar successes, capturing the IBO Continental Cruiserweight title and notching victories in a succession of regional title fights against Erdogan Kadrija and Gusmyr Perdomo. Each victory was unique—some coming through attrition over several rounds, others in blitzes that gave opponents little chance to settle. His reach and size, coupled with an orthodox textbook technique, allowed him to control distance and enforce his tempo against a succession of challengers.
By the early 2020s, Cinkara had become a fixture within the European and Asian regional scenes, collecting the WBC Asian cruiserweight title against Vaclav Pejsar in April 2023 and the WBA International and German International cruiserweight belts through consistent winning performances. What made these results significant was not just the accumulation of hardware; it was the consistent willingness to face sturdy opposition. Among his more experienced opponents were Marek Prochazka and Al Sands, each hurried out of competition by Cinkara’s relentless pursuit of the finish. The fight with Al Sands, a former world-ranked contender, ended via technical knockout in September 2022, emphasising Cinkara’s readiness to face fighters beyond the local circuit.
Recent years have seen Cinkara maintain his unbeaten record, notching wins through both sheer power and tactical discipline. In April 2024, he met Armend Xhoxhaj, a fighter with credible experience, and finished the contest by technical knockout, further solidifying his standing as a serious contender. Alongside these athletic achievements, the durability and brief nature of his fights have been a defining trait; with his bouts averaging fewer than three rounds, few rivals have been able to extend him the full distance.
Though Cinkara has yet to step into the ring for a full world title bout, his victories in IBF eliminators and regional championship matches have drawn increasing scrutiny from global sanctioning bodies. His decisive stoppage of Xhoxhaj in April 2024 earned him the opportunity to challenge for the IBF world cruiserweight title. While he has fought internationally recognised opponents and collected prestigious secondary belts, the next step in his career—facing established elite-level champions—remains unfinished, offering both anticipation and intrigue for observers and historians alike.
