Salvador Sanchez vs Danny Lopez II

On June 21, 1980, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Salvador Sánchez defended his WBC World Featherweight Title for the second time against the man he won it from, Danny "Little Red" Lopez. Both fighters weighed in at 126 pounds, with Sánchez holding a record of 35-1-1 and Lopez at 42-4-0. The bout was officiated by referee Mills Lane and broadcast on ABC Sports.

Lopez applied relentless pressure from the opening bell, advancing continuously and attempting to land punches wherever possible. Despite his aggression, Sánchez's defensive prowess and quick counterpunching allowed him to evade many of Lopez's attacks while delivering precise responses. As the rounds progressed, Sánchez's superior technique became increasingly evident, with judges Harold Buck, Anselmo Escobedo, and Benjamin Gonzalez scoring the bout 125-122, 127-120, and 129-126, respectively, in favour of Sánchez.

In the 14th round, a well-executed left-right combination from Sánchez staggered Lopez. Sensing the opportunity, Sánchez unleashed a series of head-snapping punches, compelling referee Mills Lane to intervene and halt the contest at 1:42 of the round, awarding Sánchez a technical knockout victory. This win reinforced Sánchez's dominance in the featherweight division and marked his  second successful defence of the WBC title.
