Wonjongkam wins by unanimous decision in the 9th defence of the WBC World Flyweight Title he won from Filipino Malcolm Tunacao in March 2001 at Pacifico Yokohama National Convention Hall, Japan.

The Thai went on to make 17 successful defences and won the Interim version in April 2009 from Mexican Julio Cesar Miranda.
