Tokuyama successfully defended his WBC World Super-flyweight Title for the 8th time by outpointing Kirillov by unanimous decision at The Central Gym in Osaka, Japan.

Tokuyama won the title from South Korea's In Joo Cho in August 2000.

Tokuyama took part in 12 WBC World Super-flyweight title bouts during his career, winning 11. He lost the title to Katsushige Kawashima in June 2004 but regained it 8 months later.
