Just under a month after their first world featherweight title meeting, Attell and Forbes met in St. Louis, Missouri to settle matters. Their first meeting in Indianapolis ended in a 10 rounds draw and this time they met over the more traditional 20 round distance.
Attell, from San Francisco, didn't need the referee's decision on this occasion, instead knocking out Forbes in the 5th round.
Attell won the vacant title against Johnny Reagan on 3rd September 1903.
Attell and Forbes met on six occasions.
Forbes had won the world bantamweight title from Danny Dougherty on November 11, 1901.
