Why the House picks Shannon Ryan
I reckon this rematch could be even better than the first. Emma Dolan deserved her split-decision victory over Shannon Ryan, and that second-round knockdown proved decisive. But Ryan has improved since then, and I wouldn't be surprised if she's a different proposition this time around.
Dolan is a proper old-school boxer. Good jab, sensible footwork and excellent timing. She knows how to control distance and punish opponents coming forward. But that stoppage defeat against Irma Garcia raised questions about her vulnerability when she's caught clean. Ryan, meanwhile, has looked sharper and more confident, particularly in that impressive stoppage of Nicola Hopewell.
The key for Ryan is not to rush her attacks as she did in their first meeting. She needs to double up the jab, change her angles and put combinations together rather than relying on single right hands. Dolan will still have success with her counters, but I fancy Ryan's improved discipline and work rate to make the difference.
I'm going against the previous result and taking Shannon Ryan to win a close unanimous decision over ten rounds.
